To compensate for their small allowances, the City Government has registered its 141 Volunteer Aides under an insurance policy scheme being offered by the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

The membership given to the LGU's Volunteer Aides was classified as Premier Silver which entitles them to up to Php 100,000 in financial assistance in cases of emergencies. This amount is usually given in cases of accidental death, disablement and dismemberment or unprovoked murder and assault.

Other benefits for cardholders include accidental medical reimbursement of up to 10,000 Pesos, burial benefit amounting to 5,000 Pesos in cases of accidental death and a daily hospital allowance of 200 Pesos for a period of up to 60 days.

Hours spent in the streets often expose the city's street cleaners to various safety and health risks that could prove to be too much of a burden for laborers with only a limited honorarium of 1,500 pesos a month. The insurance policy being offered by PNRC presented the opportunity to address this concern within a reasonable budget.
